More ways to move
Looney Loops is just one of many great ways to get active locally
Looney Loops is just one of many brilliant ways to get moving in and around Banbury. We believe there's a perfect fit out there for everyone, whether that's our own laid-back monthly loop, a structured club night, or a women-only running group. Below are some other fantastic local groups worth checking out. We're proud to be part of such an active community, and we'd always rather point you toward whatever helps you keep moving, even if that's not us!
Cherwell Runners and Joggers
A friendly, long-established Banbury running club (formed in 1991), open to runners and joggers of all abilities. Whether you're in it for fun, fitness, or race times. They meet twice weekly: Tuesdays (their main social night, with multiple pace groups) and Thursdays (members-only, usually a hilly route through Banbury), both starting at 7pm from the Woodgreen pool-side entrance. As an England Athletics affiliated club, members benefit from insurance and race discounts. New to the club? Contact them first so they can pair you with the right run leader.
261 Fearless Banbury
A supportive, non-competitive social running network exclusively for women of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Since 2017, 261 Fearless Banbury has welcomed women to run together every Monday evening at 6:45pm at Longford Park Pavilion, whatever the weather. They also run occasional mid-month 10k sessions and a "sneaky 5k Thursday." A warm, empowering space if you're looking to run alongside other women. Find them on Facebook: 261 Fearless Club Banbury
Banbury parkrun
A free, timed, volunteer-led 5k taking place every Saturday morning, a lovely complement to Looney Loops if you fancy something weekly alongside our monthly get-together. Many Loopers attend parkrun before coming to Looney Loops. All paces welcome, and it's completely free to take part (just register once at parkrun.org.uk).
Up & Running Milton Keynes – Social Run Group
Run by the team at the Up & Running running shop in Milton Keynes, this free, all-inclusive social run group meets weekly for a friendly 5k. Everyone runs together, making it a great option for new or beginner runners. Sessions take place every Wednesday at 6:30pm, starting from the store inside Go Outdoors Central Retail Park, Patriot Drive, Bradwell Common, Milton Keynes, MK13 8PU. No booking needed, just head into the store beforehand to register with a member of staff.
